Scope of this policy
On the website we use cookies, which are small files stored by the browser. Instead of cookies, the mobile app may use secure device storage, local settings and storage used by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Expo and Google AdMob libraries. This policy describes both types of technology.
Technologies we use
- Essential website cookies
- Maintain a secure session, protect forms, remember language and enable the signed-in service. They do not require consent because they are necessary to provide the requested service.
- App storage
- SecureStore and local settings store the session token, stable installation identifier, language, theme, PIN-lock settings and other preferences needed for the app to work.
- Subscription and notification libraries
- RevenueCat and Expo may use device storage and technical identifiers to synchronize a purchase or deliver a notification enabled by the user.
- Advertising technologies
- On the mobile Free plan, Google AdMob may use device identifiers or storage for non-personalized ad delivery, frequency capping, aggregate reporting and fraud prevention. We do not remarket using BudgetBuddy data.
Managing cookies
Essential cookies and app storage operate without separate consent only where necessary to provide the service and security. We show the required UMP privacy flow for advertising technologies. Advertising privacy options can be reopened in app preferences, and notification permission can be changed in system settings.
- Google Chrome
- Click the menu icon (three dots, top right), choose "Settings" → "Privacy and security" → "Cookies and other site data".
- Mozilla Firefox
- Click the menu button (three lines), choose "Options" → "Privacy & Security" → "Cookies and Site Data".
- Microsoft Edge
- Click the menu icon (three dots, top right), choose "Settings" → "Privacy, search, and services" → "Manage site data".
- Safari
- Go to "Preferences" → "Privacy" and choose your cookie preferences.
Why we use these technologies
Cookies and mobile technologies are used for the following purposes:
- To enable the app to function correctly, including smooth budgeting and finance-management features.
- To serve non-personalized ads on the mobile Free plan after the required privacy flow, without remarketing based on BudgetBuddy data.
- To remember user settings, allowing a more personalized experience in the app.
- To keep the user's session secure and protect against unauthorized access.
Consent and legal basis
Simply using BudgetBuddy is not consent to optional technologies. Essential cookies and storage operate to provide the service and protect it. Where the law requires consent for advertising technology, we request it through UMP and record the choice. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Data security
Session, device and library identifiers are usually pseudonymous, but they may be linked to a user account. We protect them using HTTPS, access controls, secure cookie attributes and the operating system's secure device storage.
Provider technologies
The app may use storage or technical identifiers from providers such as:
- Google AdMob/UMP - to serve non-personalized ads on the mobile Free plan and manage required consent
- RevenueCat - to link an account to a purchase and synchronize subscription entitlements
- Expo and Apple/Google - to deliver notifications enabled by the user
Changes to this cookies policy
We reserve the right to change this cookies policy at any time. Users will be informed of any changes by publishing a new version of the policy in the app, and by e-mail (if the user has agreed to receive notifications).
